Bedroom Plans

So I'm the kind of person who extensively researches things (like when I came up with a list of twenty different duvet cover options today). My husband makes fun of all my lists and spread sheets I use to keep track of things, whether it's furniture I want for our house or comparing cruises for vacation. Today I've been thinking a lot about how I want to decorate our bedroom. I came up with a few color palettes to show Tom. I tend to be indecisive and change my mind a lot about things, so I figured if I let Tom pick from options I like, we'd be alright. He picked the green, black and white palette with hot pink accents.

So the walls will be an apple green, like Behr's 'Sparkling Apple'.

Tom says he would prefer black furniture to white, so we'll go that route. We'll either make the Ana White Farmhouse Bed I mentioned in this post, or go with a bed like the Ikea Hemnes in black-brown

or the Ikea Svelvik

We'll add a black-and-white duvet cover, like the Mini Fleur organic duvet cover

or the Double Dot duvet cover (Tom's's shown in Dark Coffee, but we'd get it in black), both from PBteen.

We'd go with either white or hot pink sheets, and probably accent with a hot pink pillow or two (and before you ask, I'm not forcing pink on him. Tom actually likes pink. He work pink Chuck Taylors in our wedding).

Add an Ikea Hemnes 8-drawer dresser for clothing storage (our new place is going to have a smaller closet than the one we have now).

For lighting, I'd like a chandelier or a pendant lamp (it would have to be able to plug into the wall). I'm not sure whether or not I'd go with a black, white or pink for the light fixture...I think I'd just have to see it in the put-together room. A few options I love from Ikea (I'm a bit obsessed with Ikea, in case you hadn't noticed):

The Kristaller 3-armed chandelier

The Maskros pendant lamp (Love! I saw it when we went and was in awe of how awesome it is)

The Molnig chandelier

Just a few ideas I had :)

  1. I swear we are the same person! We have very similar tastes! I LOVE the scheme, I think it will be great! I also LOVE the Maskros lamp! I will totally have it for my first girl's nursery!

  2. I wish I lived at Ikea. We've only been once, but I just fell in love with it. I can't wait until the next time we get to go. I just wish there was on in Indy since it's a little closer than Chicago.

  3. Thanks, btw :) We do seem to have similar taste. Maybe we're design twins!

  4. Hi Alex! It' Cyndi from Bluebirds' Wing blog. You left me a comment today and since your profile is set to "no-reply" I came over to your blog to respond! The fawns really are precious and I had not seen any that small before, either! It's so fun to watch them wobble about learning to walk, and then taking little naps in the grass. What a special gift from God to share!

Do you live in Muncie, IN? There is an Ikea over here in West Chester, OH...just a few miles from my house. Don't know if that would be closer to you than Chicago, but something you could check out since you like to do research! LOL! I love that there waaaaaay more than I should be! LOL!

    Have a great weekend!

  5. I love this plan! Everything is so fun. And The Maskro.....I think I'm in love! I also want to make the Ana White bed....too bad I'm not too good with the whole measure twice cut once things....haha!

  6. Thanks Michelle! The Maskro is pretty awesome. I got so excited when I saw it in the store. It reminds me of fluffy dandelions :)

As for the bed, I think we'll work up to it. I think I'll trust the guys at Home Depot to cut it for me.

I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I read and respond to each and every one. Thank you so much!
