Strawberry-Peach Smoothie
Tuesday, June 05, 2012So I've been trying to eat healthier lately in addition to the exercise. I also like to use what we have in the kitchen, because it keeps us from wasting food and saves us money. Yesterday, I was craving a smoothie, so I went to see what we had. I ended up creating this smoothie (with a rather...interesting...ingredient) and it ended up being really yummy.
Ingredients
-1 container strawberry Greek yogurt
-1 cup frozen peaches
-1 cup milk (I used vitamin D)
-1 cup chopped red cabbage
Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
Makes 3 servings
Each serving is 127 calories, 19g carbs, less than 3g fat and 7g protein.
The milk is (obviously) full of calcium, while the Greek yogurt also provides protein. Peaches provide potassium and vitamin C, while the cabbage has a decent amount of vitamin A (and vitamin C, but not as much as the peaches).
For those of you who are wondering, you can't taste the cabbage. I normally put spinach in my smoothies (which you also can't taste), but this ended up making a good substitution.
