Wedding Guest Chic
Wednesday, June 06, 2012Our dear friends James and Mary are getting married this week, and Tom and I are both going to be in the wedding. It got me thinking about weddings, and how June is the most popular month for them. Since wedding season is in full swing, I figured it would be good to do a wedding guest outfit, since I'm sure some of you have a wedding you'll be attending soon.
-Glamour Power To You Dress in Flower Bed - $74.99 - Modcloth
It's a commonly known etiquette rule that you don't wear white to a wedding (which multiple people seemed to have forgotten at my wedding, but that's neither here nor there). I feel that the exception is a good print, especially when the print is large. This print is bright, punchy, fun and summery, and I think that's the perfect combo for a summer wedding.
-Nina Forbes in apple green satin - $79.95 - Zappos
I've always loved these shoes. I briefly thought about wearing them for my wedding, but as I've stated before, I don't do well in heels and I was too broke to get new shoes anyway. The color echoes the flower stems on the dress, and the peep toe and bow are just adorable. The pleating detail adds some extra interest.
-Gunne Sax by Jessica McClintock Sequin Hard Case Clutch - $55 - Kohl's
I figured that with a bright colors on the dress as well as colored shoes, a more muted bag would be good. I didn't want the look to be too matchy-matchy (Nina Garcia would definitely not approve). I thought this one was special enough to add a little extra to the outfit, but neutral enough to not overpower anything. Gold mimics the warm tones of the orange and yellow nicely. Plus it's shiny, and everyone knows I'm a sucker for shine.
-Gold Teardrop Chandelier Earrings - $14.99 - Target
I've been a huge fan of chandelier earrings for years. The danglier (and yes, I know that's not a word) the better. I liked that these had a similar gold tone to the bag. They have an interesting texture too. I'm a big believer in not having too much jewelry. I think a pair of great earrings or a statement necklace are pretty much all you need, so I just left the jewelry at the earrings.
