I Love Me A Good Diaper Bag

Monday, July 02, 2012

I realize that this may seem like an odd post coming from me, since I have no children and I'm not pregnant.

But the truth is, I LOVE baby stuff.

I've spent many nights looking at baby stuff and making a gazillion spreadsheets planning all the things I'd like to have when the time comes.

One of my favorite things to look at? Diaper bags.

I'm a fan of the diaper bags that don't necessarily look like diaper bags.  I'm a firm believer that being a mother doesn't mean you have to necessarily look like a mother (and by that, I don't mean that I think you should go prancing about in lingerie; I mean that I don't think you should have to resort  to Winnie-the-Pooh and spit-up covered sweats if you don't want to -- it's okay to still look classy and feminine).  With this in mind, I've rounded up my favorite diaper bags that don't look like diaper bags.

Petunia Pickle Bottom

I fell in love with Petunia Pickle Bottom bags years ago when I first saw them.  They've retired some of my favorite prints over the years, but they're always coming out with new ones, so it's easy to find more to love.

So, why do I love Petunia bags?  They're stylish, coming in several different varieties and prints.  They have several pockets,  and each bag has a key clip to make sure you never have to dig through diapers and various items of clothing to find them.  Each bag also comes with a changing pad and a wipes case, to make diaper changes on the go even easier.

Here are a few of my favorite current styles :)

-Sashay Satchel in Classic Cornflower - $129 - I love that the Sashay Satchel can be used as a shoulder bag or a backpack (yay, multiple functions!), and the Classic Cornflower  is made from organic cotton.  Plus it's purty :)

-Holiday in the Hague Boxy Backpack - $175 - The Boxy Backpack style is extremely popular.  From what I've heard, they're surprisingly roomy.  They convert from a backpack to a messenger bag (which I love -- messenger bags have always been my fave).  It also has a changing station built right in to the bag, which I think is pretty cool.  Plus, I am in looooove with this print!

-Wistful Weekender in Lively La Paz - $180 - I love this print, especially the colors.  I think the Wistful Weekenders are casual enough for everyday use, but still add enough polish to make you look put together.

timi & leslie

I'm a big fan of timi & leslie bags as well.  I'm obsessed with their Convertible Collection bags -- they're super stylish, and look just like purses (and they all have a crossbody strap to convert to a messenger bag!).  They have several style options, and each style has different color options.  They have a ton of awesome features -- each bag has several pockets and a key clip, and comes with a changing pad, a sack for dirty clothes or diapers, a clutch for all your 'mommy' stuff, an insulated bottle holder (awesome, right?) and stroller straps (also very awesome).  These are my favorites (all Convertible Collection bags).

-Marilyn in Black Patent - $169.99

Tiddliwinks (available at Target)

-Carry All Diaper Bag in Lime Ginko - $59.99 - I think the print is really pretty, and I love grey and yellow together.  It includes a pouch for wipes, a pacifier holder, an isulated bottle holder, two extra pouches, a changing pad and stroller straps.  Plus, the shoulder strap is removable!

-Cascade Diaper Bag in Silver - $79.99 - I like this bag.  It's cute, and it looks nothing like a diaper bag (and everyone knows I'm a sucker for a good bow).  It comes with a changing pad and insulated bottle holder, and the shoulder straps come off.

JJ Cole

-Satchel Bag in Aspen Arbor - $69.95 - I like this bag.  It makes me want to go on vacation to the shore or something (and kind of reminds me of the blog's new look, actually).  It's roomy, comes in different colors, and is also available is solid-colored faux leather (the faux leather bags cost $89.95).  It has lots of pockets, a removable shoulder strap, stroller grips and a changing

Skip Hop

-Studio diaper tote in Pewter Dot - $90 - This bag has over a dozen pockets, including two insulated bottle pockets.  It comes with a changing pad and stroller straps.  My favorite feature might be the little feet on the bottom -- you can put your bag down without worrying about it getting dirty!

So what do you think?  If you're a mom or mom-to-be, what kind of diaper bag do you have?
