Alex. Miss Alex.
Monday, August 20, 2012I'm sorry I went five days without posting. I know it's odd for me. I just got caught up in a lot of things.
Life. What a douche, always getting in the way of everyone's plans.
Well anyway, I started my new job today. I won't actually have any kids for a couple of weeks though. This is all prep time. We started the day out with a TB test (and this one hurt. I've had three or four before this, and they didn't really hurt. It was weird), then we had a staff meeting, then I got to see my classroom (the job I have isn't the job I'd interviewed for, so I hadn't seen my classroom before today).
As I mentioned before, my class can have children from 6 1/2 weeks to 5 years. Right now, I have all toddlers (most are 2, and one is almost 2), which is kind of a relief. I taught a two-year-old class for a few months, so I'm familiar with the age (obviously, I'm more comfortable with pre-K, but I was worried I'd have a lot more infants/1s).
I didn't take my camera with me today, but I will sometime this week. I want to take before and after pictures of my classroom. I think I'm going to do a space theme.
Tomorrow I have CPR and first aid recertification. The rest of the week is all about classroom prep (decoration, organization, parent information, etc.) and getting lesson plans ready. September 4 seems kind of far right now (I know it's really not), but I have a feeling that time is going to fly by and I'm going to feel like I have no time to get anything done (I usually feel that way, actually).
I also think I might start a second blog just for teaching stuff, because I'll probably have a lot to say about it. What do you guys think? Good idea, or bad idea?
