eShakti Review

Monday, April 01, 2013

This review is a few weeks later than I would have liked it to be, but that's my own fault.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen me post a pic of a dress on my door a few weeks ago. It was my eShakti dress. Unfortunately, the weather here in Indiana has been RIDICULOUS, and we had lots of cold and blizzards until this week. It's finally warm enough to wear this beautiful dress, and I took full advantage of it (I even decided to use it as my Easter dress!).

*please excuse my boobs in these pictures -- I had on a strapless bra that tends to creep down at times and make my boobs look weird

I'll admit, when I was first approached by eShakti, I was a little hesitant to accept the invite. A little insight into how I handle working with brands: if a company approaches me (which, shockingly, has happened more often than not), the first thing I do before saying yes is head over to Google. I sift through different reviews of the brand/product from other bloggers to determine if a product is quality and worth introducing to you. The reviews on eShakti were mixed, but I decided to go ahead and go for it so that anyone else who wondered would have another opinion. Some of the cons I had seen were ill-fitting garments and ridiculously long shipping.

Thankfully, I had neither of those problems. In fact, I haven't had any problems with my dress.

eShakti is a company that offers clothing from sizes 0-36 (which is awesome for us bigger gals!), and they even offer customization; you can change different elements about the clothing, or send in your measurements for a truly custom fit.

I chose the Pin-Up dress in gingham (I'm a sucker for gingham, and love all things 50s-inspired). The customization options were to change the length and neckline. I left the length at below the knee, but went ahead and changed the neckline to be wider and less low-cut. Some things I really love about the dress are the back (which has the same neckline as the front -- I should have gotten a picture, but I was getting impatient with Tom, lol), the bow that ties in the back, the fact that it's made entirely of cotton, the fact that it's lined (it's the first non-formal dress I've owned that's lined!) and POCKETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I absolutely love dresses with pockets (even my wedding dress had pockets!), and a lot of eShakti's dresses have them. Also, the skirt is super twirly, which is never a bad thing.

getting dizzy :)
Since the clothes are made in India, I expected shipping to take awhile (making the garment + shipping overseas = probably waiting awhile). The ordering process was really easy, and all the customization options were plainly laid out. I ordered late one night, and nine days later, it was delivered to my house. I wasn't expecting it, because that day I received an email saying that it had shipped, and lo and behold, there it was :)

I absolutely LOVE this dress, and I anticipate getting a lot of wear out of it. If I had more money to spend on clothes, I'd definitely be buying more pieces from eShakti. Dresses are often in th $50-70 range, which is definitely more than I've ever spent on anything non-formal, but I know that's chump change for a lot of gals. These pieces are so cute and such good quality that I wouldn't mind spending it if I had it.
