Jolly VoxBox Review

Tuesday, January 28, 2014

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

In December, I received my Jolly VoxBox from Influenster, and there were a lot of awesome products in the box (though still none as awesome as the Vaseline Spray 'n Go Moisturizer I got in the Sugar 'n Spice VoxBox last year). I thought I'd tell you about the products and what I thought about them. All thoughts are my own.

Rimmel London Show Off Lip Lacquer

I thought the gloss itself was pretty good. It stayed on pretty decently, and didn't feel as sticky as most glosses tend to feel. I didn't like the color I was sent though. Celestial was a little too "dusty rose"-ish for me; I think I would have preferred Stellar, Big Bang, or Apocaliptic. It was also more matte than I thought it would be. There was a little shine, but with it being called a lacquer, I was expecting some major shine, and I don't feel that it lived up to its name. Overall, it's a good product though.

NYC HD Color Trio Eye Shadow in Long Beach Sands

What I like about these eye shadow trios is that they make it pretty easy and foolproof to create a layered eyeshadow look or a smoky eye. Any smoky eyes made with Long Beach Sands, however, are going to be very subtle, because these shadows are not particularly pigmented. The sheerness and neutral colors make this trio ideal for daily wear, but I'd recommend another palette for an evening look; thankfully, there are a lot of other color options available. I thought these colors were okay, but I prefer to wear eyeshadow colors that make my green eyes pop, which these brown shades didn't do. The price really can't be beat ($2.99!). I can see myself buying other color sets of the HD Color Trios.

Ducklings Mini Rolls

I received the blue leopard print (pictured). While I haven't used it much (I'm trying to come up with a good project for it), I have decorated some note cards for Little J with it, which she enjoyed. The Ducklings have the strength of duct tape and the decorative aspects of washi tape. Unlike traditional duct tape, it's pretty easy to tear with your hands (which is nice). As for using it for repair purposes, I would limit it to small projects (like maybe attaching something small to another small thing, or wrapping around a pipe/cord/etc.

Puffs Plus Lotion

I've always been a Puffs fan. These are basically my go-to tissue, except that I prefer the ones that smell like Vicks :) They're soft and keep my nose from getting all red and raw. Thankfully, I haven't needed as many as usual in the past few months, even though this is my peak allergy season. Whether it's from the extreme cold temperatures, the local honey I've been using since summer, or something else, I don't know, but when I do need tissues, I reach for the Puffs.

Skinny Cow Divine Filled Chocolates in Peanut Butter Creme

These were okay. The taste was good enough that it was hard to believe that there were only 130 calories in three pieces, but I'd rather have a Reese's. The peanut butter is a little on the salty side for me (I'm not much of a salt person), but the salt does also provide a nice contrast to the sweetness of the chocolate. They do contain corn syrup (like a lot of candy), which is a negative for me, but if you're looking for a low-cal candy, you could certainly do a lot worse.

If you received this VoxBox, I'd love to hear which product you liked the best! The Puffs were my favorite; you can never have to many portable packs of tissues!
