Lending A Hand (And An Eye!)

A few months ago, I started thinking that it might be nice to see if any of the local shelters needed any photography help. While I was scrolling through my news feed, I saw that the shelter we got Archie through (though he was never actually in the shelter -- he was in foster care because they try to keep puppies out of the shelter since they're more susceptible to disease) was looking for a photographer.

I knew it was meant to be.

So now on Wednesday afternoons, Tom (who has been acting as my assistant since I started on my own) and I head out to the shelter, where we take pictures of the new dogs, get updated pictures for dogs who have been there for awhile, put them up on Petfinder, and occasionally exercise them when there's time. While it can definitely be an emotional job, it has been extremely rewarding. It has been so wonderful to know that I am helping these animals find homes. Though I am sometimes a little sad when I see empty kennels that used to house dogs I had grown attached to (like my lovebug Chuckie, who found a home earlier this month), it fills my heart with joy knowing they have found loving forever homes.

If you're in the Indiana area and are looking for a new furry companion, come check out our wonderful dogs! Currently available:
