5 Things I'm Loving Right Now - January 2018

Tuesday, January 23, 2018

For the most part, January has been a cold, dreary month, and I am beyond ready for spring (which is probably not going to come to Indiana for another three and a half months, because that's how Indiana weather works). There are, however, a few things that have been making the yucky weather and the constant cycles of illness involving basically everyone I know that have made this month a little more pleasant. Some are new to me, and some are old favorites, but these are five things I'm loving right now!

I tend  to have very specific YouTube channels that I follow, and it's been awhile since I've branched out much. I was wanting to watch some Disney vlogs last week, but I was all caught up on my usual Disney vloggers. I searched a Disney forum that I'm a part of (yes, I'm that much of a Disnerd) for vloggers people liked, and I saw Gillian At Home pop up a few times. I was intrigued, so I checked her out, and I am totally hooked (as is Jeffery). Gillian lives in Toronto, and doesn't only vlog about Disney, so even if you're not into Disney, she's still worth checking out if you enjoy funny, genuine vloggers. Her best videos are done with her sister Hilary, who I'm pretty sure is my spirit animal. Plus, she has an adorable dog named Louis, and who doesn't love adorable dogs? Gillian actually prompted Jeffery to tell me the other day that he wants to make Disney World videos, but he doesn't know what he wants to talk about yet. Check out her channel!

I've actually been drinking coconut LaCroix off and on for like three years now, but I've recently started drinking it again. I realized I'd been drinking a lot of pop again the last couple of months (when I hadn't had much pop in quite awhile), and I wanted to put an end to that. The best part of pop for me is the carbonation, so I'm all about subbing in flavored (but unsweetened!) seltzer to curb my fizz cravings. Coconut LaCroix is my fave, so that's what I've been throwing back the past week or so.

An oldie but a goodie, I seem to keep coming back to the basic Burt's Bees lip balm no matter what else I try (and I do try other things; I'm also a fan of eos and Jersey Shore Cosmetics). With the weather the way it's been, it's more important than ever to keep my lips properly hydrated (they got pretty chapped a couple of weeks ago, and it was really unpleasant). I'm constantly losing my chapstick, so I popped into Target and got some Burt's Bees that I'm keeping in the cup holder of my car. My plan is to make sure it doesn't leave my car, that way, no matter what, I always know where at least one stick is at all times. I love the classic beeswax lip balm; the peppermint feels SO nice and cool on your lips, and my lips always feel well protected even well after I've applied the balm. I'm looking forward to enjoying this partnership for the rest of winter and beyond!

Another not-new-to-me thing, I have been LIVING for ClickList this winter. ClickList is Kroger's online ordering program, and it works at Kroger-owned stores as well (I use it at my local Pay Less, which makes me happy, because Pay Less started in my hometown, so there's always a little piece of home here in Lafayette). You order your groceries online and schedule a pickup time, pay by debit/credit card, pull into a specific spot in the parking lot, call the ClickList line (the number is posted by the parking spots), and an associate brings the groceries out to you and loads them in your car for you. It's ridiculously convenient, especially if you constantly have your kids with you and at least one of them seems to have a meltdown before you've left the produce section every single time you go). There is a fee (I think it's $4.95 per order), but the do waive the fee the first few times you use the service (when I started using it when it first came to Lafayette, it was three free orders, but I don't know if that's still the case). Even with the fee, I've noticed that I spend WAY less on groceries when I use ClickList; I have a specific list, and I'm able to stick to it without any impulse purchases. And with the grossness we've had this winter, not having to get out of my car to get groceries has been AMAZING. Bringing them inside, however...

My bestie Dominique (if you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen her pop up in my stories over the weekend) got me one of the Target-exclusive magazine versions of Taylor Swift's Repuation album for Christmas. She kept forgetting to give it to me until this weekend, but I had waited to listen to the whole album (I had previously heard the three singles she released, as well as "New Year's Day" which I saw in the middle of TGIT some time ago). I've had it playing on a loop in my car since Saturday night. Overall, I think I preferred 1989, but I do like the album. My favorites are "Don't Blame Me", "New Year's Day", and "Look What You Made Me Do" (I know a lot of people didn't really like it, but angry Taylor is often my favorite Taylor). I also like "Dress", and even though it's not about Ed Sheeran, I like to pretend it is.

What are you loving right now?
