I Miss Having A Podcast

Thursday, January 25, 2018

I've really been missing hosting a podcast lately.

For those who weren't aware, Tom and I used to do a Full House podcast called Everywhere You Look. We stopped doing it about a year and a half ago. Part of the problem was that we were so overwhelmed and exhausted from being new parents that spending the time to take notes, record, and edit the show was exhausting when we were already drained (coincidentally, the last episode we did was the episode where Jesse and Becky became new parents); part of it was that Tom just wasn't feeling it anymore.

But I liked the way it connected me with others.

I liked getting to talk about random pop culture things.

I liked the inside jokes that were born from it (sixth grade posse 4 lyfe!).

I liked having the routine that came with it.

I've mentioned missing it to Tom a few times, and though he is uninterested in doing a podcast right now, he told me that if I really want to do one, I should.

And that's an idea.

But the problem is that I have no idea what I would talk about, and, let's be real, I doubt anyone wants to sit there and listen to me ramble for half an hour about nothing. I actually did briefly have my own podcast for the blog a LOOOOOOONG time ago, but it fizzled out after a few episodes because I didn't know what to talk about and ran out of people who wanted to talk to me on the podcast (because, like I said, I highly doubt anyone wants to listen to Alex Just Talks A Lot By Herself).

Plus, I don't know how long I'd be able to keep it going. I constantly crave creative fulfillment, but I never seem to have the drive to see anything through (I would mention it to my therapist next week, but I feel like we're still lightyears away from being able to move on from where we are currently -- not her fault, because she's awesome; I'm just really damaged).

I guess I just needed to vent.
