The Green Family Fun Night Film Series - Chicken Little

Monday, January 29, 2018

For a little while now, I've thought it would be fun to have a weekly movie night with themed food to go along with it. This past Friday, I finally made it happen!

Being Disney-obsessed as I am, I decided we should start with Disney films. We don't have nearly as many as I would like, but we have a few, and I figured between what we had and what is currently available on Netflix, we had a good jumping off point. I let Tom make the first pick, and he chose Chicken Little.

I feel like chicken is kind of the obvious choice to go along with the movie, but it also felt a eat chicken while watching a movie about an anthropomorphic chicken, so I opted for a different menu.

Since baseball is a big part of the movie, particularly in regards to Chicken Little's relationship with his father, I thought a concession stand-themed menu would be perfect. We ended up having nachos, corn dogs/hot dogs, popcorn, and these cute little donut hole acorns that I actually found while researching a potential Pocahontas-themed menu (though I just kept it simple without sprinkles or anything because I had to make them quickly between work and Eric's speech/OT).

It was a lot of fun, and the boys really enjoyed it, so I'm excited to do it again! I think eventually, I'd like to get to the point where I can incorporate themed crafts and decorations, but I'm taking it slow for now.

This week we're watching Moana, and I'm really excited to see how our meal turns out (there's a lot of coconut involved, so I'm stoked!).
