Lafayette Brewing Company

Most Sundays after church, we head to Lafayette Brewing Company for lunch with my best friend and her family.

The black awning against the yellow walls definitely grabs your attention on Main Street. When it's nice out, there's patio seating available, making it a great place to meet with friends on a summer evening.

The inside seating area is warm and inviting. The yellow walls and rich wood are cozy and make the space feel more intimate than it is. It's also quieter than you would expect it to be, even when it'd bustling.

The tables aren't overly close to one another, which is nice, though tables are closer along the banquette-lined western wall. Local events are advertised near the front door, and a lot of the decor is, understandably, beer-related.

As the name implies, Brew Co, as it's often referred to locally, is a working brewery. I'm not a big drinker, and I haven't really liked most beers I've tried, so I haven't tried any of their beers yet (I will say that I've been tempted to try the stout float with chocolate ice cream in it. The beer seems to be reasonably priced, and you can even do a sampler flight to try a variety of beers. Additionally, they also make their own brewhouse sodas; I normally drink water when we're out, but I have tried a couple of them. They almost always have root beer, plus a rotating option. I've had both the cream soda and the orange soda; both are good, but I personally prefer the cream soda.

We've been several times at this point (I'm the duchess on Yelp, lol), so I've gotten the chance to try a lot of things on the menu. I've never had anything I didn't like. I have a few favorites I tend to rotate through: Spicy Garlic Shrimp Po' Boy, Tap Room Chicken, Pesto Melt, Chicken Meltdown, Turkey Club Wrap, Ranchero Chicken Wrap, Chicken Tippy, and Chicken and Chips. The sandwiches come with crispy, house-made pub chips, and fries can come plain or seasoned (I like the Cajun fries, personally). As far a appetizers go, I'm a big fan of the Scotch Eggs! We never have room for dessert, but they normally have a variety of options from the delightful Kathy's Kandies across the street (and we've never had anything from Kathy's that wasn't delicious).

Pro tip: If you get the Chicken and Chips (or even the Ranchero Chicken Wrap) and you don't mind a bit of a kick, ask for the spicy ranch they put on the Chicken Tippy; it's delicious on the chicken strips!

The kids' menu has a variety of options that even picky eaters will love, and my kids love that they get to pick two sides (now they’re spoiled and think they can pick two sides at every restaurant 😂). And if you’re a parent, you'll love this -- Sunday afternoons, kids eat free with an adult meal purchase! It definitely helps us save! They have different food and drink specials every day, so there's always a good deal going on.

Whether you're local or just in town for a Purdue game, I'd definitely recommend stopping by Lafayette Brewing Company for good food and a beer!
